FUNERAL SERVICES FOR CARL L. QUERL FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Victim of Accident is Survived by Wife, Three Children; Native of York

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's lutheran church Friday, May 17, at 12:30 o'clock for Carl L. Querl, who was killed in an automobile acident in Williamsburg on Tuesday eveing of last week.

Carl Louis Querl was born Feb. 13, 1890, in York township, Iowa county, son of Henry and Elizabeth Querl, and was 56 years of age at the time of his tragic death.

Mr. Querl was baptized in St. John's LUtheran church at Homestead and was confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran church, York township. He assisted his father on the farm until his marriage at which time the home was established in Williamsburg.

He was married to Miss Ida Kephart at Oxford, Iowa, on April 12, 1912, and to this union was born five children, three of whom survive: Alice (Mrs. Claus Gimm) Durant, Iowa, Lee, with the U.S. Army in Osaka, Japan, and Clifford, at home. One child died in infancy and a son, Cpl. William Querl, died in a Japanese prison camp in the Philippine Islands.

Besides his wife and three children other survivors include seven grandchildren; one brother, Ernest; six sisters, Mrs. Gus Kleinmeyer, Williamsburg, Mrs. John Malzahn, Appleton, Wis., Mrs. Emil Spittler, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mrs. Lizzie Koehn, Waverly, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Wheeler, Daly City, Calif., and Mrs. Sophie Timpe, Bellingham, Minn., and other more distant relatives.

Burial was made in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery with the following friends serving as pallbearers: Albert Mews, W.C. Walter, Jonas Tschopp, John Wille, Carl G. Meyer and Julius Meyer.

Relatives who attended the services from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Claus Gimm or Durant, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. WAllerick, George Kephart, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kephart, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bowers, Mrs. Alice and Frieda Kephart, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kemp, all of Sigourney, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Kephart of Conroy; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Newhouse of Harper, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kephart of Cedar Rapids; and Henry Koehn of Waverly, Iowa.
