John Z. Anderson One Time Resident Here Dies at Peoria
John Z. Anderson, 97, of 620 W. Division St., Peoria Heights, Ill. died at 8:22 a.m. Sunday January 9th., at the home of his son, Todd Anderson, 122 W. Rouse Ave., Peoria Heights. Burial was made in the family lot in Chariton. He had been a farmer and carpenter in Chariton, Iowa before his retirement.
He was born Feb. 26, 1851, in Sandburg, Sweden, and married Rose Anna Troxel at Fairfield, Iowa, April 4, 1878. She died in Williamsburg, Iowa, October 26, 1931, and burial was made in the family lot in Chariton, Iowa. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Congregational church in Williamsburg. He moved to Peoria four years ago.
Surviving are his son, Todd, daughter-in-law Mary, two grandchildren, Evanna Biddison, and Marguerite Gabbet, two great-grandchildren, Todd and Ronald Gabbet all of Peoria, Ill.
John Anderson was for many years a familiar figure about town. His home for several years before he moved to Peoria was the cottage that stood just north of the present location of the Jones funeral home.
