WEST PILOT...

The entire community was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Erma Davis in La Porte City on Wednesday morning, and a very large crowd attended her funeral at the Ohio church on Friday afternoon. The roads were next to impassable and very few cars were used and those were helped along by the aid of several tractors. A delegation of students and teachers numbering about 65 came from La Porte City as far as Ladora. From there to the Ohio church they were taken in four stock trucks. Also a group from Oskaloosa and Williamsburg came to Ladora and rode out in the trucks furnished by the Ladora truckers. A count revealed they had about 95 passengers in the four loads. Those from the sorrowing community went in wagons, buggies, or horseback and on foot and it was an indication of the high esteem in which she was held.
