PASSED AWAY IN BOONE SATURDAY
Mrs. Minerva Hendershott Formerly of This City, Died After An Illness of Two Years.
Mrs. Minerva Hendershott, for twenty-seven years a resident if this city and since 1916 a resident of Boone, passed away in that city Saturday morning at 7 o'clock after an illness of two years and a half, The last five months of which she was confined to her bed. Throuout her illness and up to the end she had the tender care of her three daughter and grand-daughter, Thelma Moran.
The funeral was held from her home on Tama Street Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial was in Linwood cemetery beside her husband, the late K. E. Hendershott who passed away on November 3rd, 1916.
Minerva Katherine Elliott Hendershott was a daughter of Wright and Elizabeth Elliott, pioneer residents of the Koszta community, and was born near Koszta on September 12th, 1861. She passed away at Boone on August 21st, 1920 at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 4 days.
She grew to young womanhood on the Elliott farm and in April 1887 was united in marriage at Ladora, in Mr. Karlton E. Hendershott. The young couple went on to housekeeping on a farm near Marengo and a few years later came to this city which place they made their home for twenty seven years moving to Boone only a few months before Mr. Hendershott passed away.
To Mr. and Mrs. Hendershott there were born eight children, six of whom survive, two having preceded the mother in death. The living children are Mrs. J. R. Sutton of Boone, Mrs. W. F. Park of Storm Lake, Con J. Hendershott of Minneapolis, Mrs. C. F. Toening's of Belle Plaine and Harold Hendershott of Boone and it was the latter who made a home for the mother in recent years. The deceased children are Carl and Gertie. Besides her six children and eight grandchildren Mrs. Hendershott is survived by three sisters and a brother namely Mrs. A. F. Randolph, Mrs Nathan Close. Mrs. C. W. Noacker and John Elliott all of near Koszta.
Mrs. Hendershott was a woman of unusually kind and sunny disposition and these characteristics made her dearly beloved in the home and among her friends have suffered an irreparable loss and to them sympathy is extended.
