The Pioneer-Republican - October 09, 1941
THE FORMER LENORA McKERG DIED ON HER 69TH BIRTHDAY IN CALIFORNIA - Word was received recently by relatives at Marengo of the death of Mrs. Lenora Marey, the former Lenora McKerg. Mrs. Marey had been living in recent years at Anaheim, California, where funeral services and burial took place. Mrs. Marey fell and broke her hip a few days before her demise and never recovered from that accident. She will be remembered by many at Marengo as she lived with her brother, George McKerg, on a farm southwest of town for many years. She was married first to Thomas Bell, former Iowa county treasurer, and following his death to Ed Marey. She was born at Linden, Illinois, on September 23(28?), 1872, and passed away on her birthday anniversary. Among those who survive in addition to her husband are a brother, Harvey McKerg of West Liberty, and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Marey of Chicago, Mrs. Viola Bell of Fulton, Illinois and Mrs. Mae Crowell of Linden, Illinois, the original McKerg home. Mrs. Marey was a cousin of the Misses Martha and Stella Brimmer and William Cummings, of Marengo.
