Shirley Marie Schindler Dye , age 71, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Pastor Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by her children, Vera Dye of North English, Kevin (Karen) Dye of Williamsburg, and Deanne (Todd) Mumm of Parnell; ten grandchildren, Richard Street III of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve Street of Sigourney, IA, Michael Street, Tiffany Dye, Melissa Street, and Jacob Dye, all of Williamsburg, Amanda Glandorf, Katie Glandorf, Bryson Mumm and Braden Mumm, all of Parnell; two brothers, Delmar (Irene) Schindler of Marengo, Milver (Phyllis) Schindler of Marion, IA and a sister Irene Schindler of Marengo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest in 2005, and a brother Calvin.

Shirley Marie Schindler was born August 16, 1936 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Peter and Katie Klotz Schindler. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1957 and married Ernest D. Dye on June 23, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards and board games. She liked to garden and read, and watch the food channel. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo.
