Catherine E. Huntsberger was born Wednesday, August 17, 1927 in rural Iowa county Iowa the daughter of John and Ella (Gradert) Evans. She attended school in Iowa City. On August 20, 1958 she was united in marriage to Donald Huntsberger in Iowa City. They lived and farmed in the Wellman community. Catherine worked at the Mid-Prairie Community School District as a cook’s assistant for several years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Catherine died on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Parkview Manor in Wellman following a brief illness at the age of 80 years. Catherine is survived by 3 daughters - Cathy Glinsmann and husband Steve of Ashton, Nebraska; Susan Schweinfurth and husband Craig of Wellman; Joan Schwartz and husband Dave of Waukon; a step daughter - Judy Huntsberger of Monticello; a step son David Huntsberger and wife Karen of Bettendorf; 9 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 2 sisters - Dorothea Shaffer of Iowa City; Virginia Smith of Cedar Rapids; and a brother - David Evans of Overland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald, a son James; and a brother George Evans.
A memorial fund has been established for Wellman Scofield Public Library and American Cancer Society.
