Edward Francis “Ted” Reitzler was born on September 7, 1909, the fourth child of Kate Elizabeth (Kline) and Joseph John Reitzler on a farm south of Brooklyn, IA. He graduated from Brooklyn High School. Ted married Lois Wilma Crider on January 4, 1937 at St. Patrick’s Church in Brooklyn. They purchased a farm east of Millersburg in 1940. To this union five children were born. Lois died on April 29, 1954. On September 5, 1959, Ted married Marie Anne Bender at Immaculate Conception Church, Armah, IA. Marie died on March 7, 2000. After his son Jim was married, Ted built a house in North English. He was a farmer, served on the Millersburg School Board, was on the FHA board and was on the building committee when the new St. Joseph Church was built in North English. After he retired he built furniture and clocks and he and Marie traveled the United States. He moved to Assisted Living in 2004 and entered the English Valley Care Center in North English in July 2007. He died at the English Valley Care Center on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the age of 98 years, 6 months and 29 days. He is survived by four daughters: Catherine (Carrol) Shaull of rural Millersburg, IA; Carol; Winternheimer of Sun City West, AZ; Susan (Gerry) Fitzgerald of Sterling, IL; Jean (Charles) Yanders of Bouton, IA; one son Jim (Marsha) Reitzler of rural Millersburg, IA; and a special friend Maxine Wade of North English, IA; 21 grandchildren: Linda Shaull, Mary Post, Roberta Icenbice, Karen (Mike Walker) Shaull, Larry (Dana) Shaull, Kevin (Jamie) Shaull, Beth (Tom) Stimes, Jeff (Becky) Winternheimer, Lynne (Tom) Boge, Sara Winternheimer, Andrew (Megan) Winternheimer, Spence (Kelly) Reitzler, Scott (Annie) Reitzler, Ryan (friend Kayla) Reitzler, Nicholas (Jolene) Reitzler, Kelly ( Masanobu) Ise, Marty (Melissa) Fitzgerald, Bonnie (Jason) Jones, Dylan (Sherri) Yanders, Emily (Jim) Stagg and Lucas Yanders; 24 great grandchildren: Matthew, Erica, Katelyn, Brittney, Tadd, Audrey, Dwight, Grant, Jacob, Nicholas, Rachel, Ethan, Olivia, Harriet, Arthur, Levi, Malerie, Sydnie, Tyler, Sara, Megan, James, Jared and Jason; a great great grandson Keaton Icenbice. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers & sisters, wives Lois & Marie, a son-in-law Art Winternheimer and a great grandson David Joseph Icenbice.
