Williamsburg– Catherine Lynn Malloy was born December 14, 1951 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Cecil and Catherine Bernadette (McCarty) Long. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1970 and from William Penn College in 1974. She taught in Harlan, Iowa from 1974-1976. Cathy was united in marriage to David J. Malloy on June 19, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell, Iowa. She recently retired as copy editor at the Marengo Publishing Corporation. Cathy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading and listening to music. Cathy died on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, of cancer at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 17 days. She is survived by her husband David Malloy of Williamsburg; a son Ryan (Melanie) Malloy of Williamsburg; a daughter Molly (Ezra) McWilliam of Grimes; her father Cecil Long of North English; 2 brothers: Dennis (Pat) Long and Gregory (Laurie) Long all of Aurora, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her mother C. Bernadette Long; and a sister Cheryl Long. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM on Friday, April 4, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will be the presider. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Williamsburg. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established. Honorary Pall Bearers: Karin Winwood, Diane Goodlow, Ann Lillis, Michaela Malloy, JoAnn Malloy, Jan Doehrmann, Vicki Tanke, Janet Caldwell, Ric Gerard, Abbe McWilliam, Florence Black and Bob Lillis.
