Leo B. Jacobi, 84, of rural South Amana, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa from Complications of a heart attack. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick's Church, Marengo, by Father Joseph Roost and Deacon Donald Jacobi. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm. Friday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, where a rosary begins at 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, Allen and wife Nancy of Coralville; two daughters Joyce (David) Jones of Williamsburg and Peggy Jacobi of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren, Randy, Terry, and Eric Jones, Cheryl Hendricks and Marsha Frommelt; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; a sister, Loraine Flanagan and three brothers, Franklyn , Carroll and his twin, Lawrence in infancy.
Leo Brenton Jacobi was born March 2, 1916, in Marengo, Iowa the son of Frank and Margret Jacobs Jacobi. He received his education in the
rural Iowa County schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1933.
He married Irene Gerner on June 18, 1936, in Ottumwa. He loved the outdoors and spent his life farming the land he loved. He was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church, Marengo.
A memorial fund has been established.
