WILLIAMSBURG- Sally Lupe Gallo, was born May 14, 1930, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Cleofas and Mary (Rangle) Torres. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Mason City and she attended Mason City Business College. On November 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dr. Julian J. Gallo, in Mason City, Iowa. They lived in Mason City, until moving to Williamsburg in 1960. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Williamsburg. Sally died on Monday, February 18, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness. She lived 77 years, 9 months and 4 days. She is survived by 3 daughters: Chris (Dr. Mike) Engel of Glen Allen, VA, Cindy Gallo of Coralville, Rita Gallo of North Liberty; 4 sons: Tom (Susan) Gallo of Grinnell, Rick Gallo of San Antonio TX, Tony (Karla) Gallo of Grinnell and Andy (Susan) Gallo of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren: Jason Engel, Sean Engel, Jonathan Gallo, Christopher Gallo, Ben Gallo, Alex Gallo, Brianna Gallo, Julian Gallo, Olivia Gallo and Madison Gallo; a brother: Isop Torres of Mason City; and a sister: Minnie Gonzales of San Josa, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1992; 2 brothers: Jessie and Joe; and 4 sisters Carmen, Anita, Inez and Isabel. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, February 22, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Williamsburg. Presider will be Fr. Joseph Roost. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Williamsburg Public Library.
