CEDAR RAPIDS - Ernest E. Weimer, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at the Hiawatha Care Center following a long illness. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post 5.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline; daughter, Cheryl Weimer of Eugene, Ore.; son, Theron Weimer and wife Melinda Edwards of Lorton, Va.; grandchildren, Tad Weimer of Halethorp, Md., Loren Edwards of Waynesville, Va., Jenna Rhodes and husband Dan of Ramstein, Germany, and Brent Edwards of Lorton, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gail Weimer; and his sister, Eva Renaker.

Ernest E. Weimer was born Jan. 27, 1924, in North English, Iowa, the beloved son of Charles Edward and Gail (Young) Weimer. He served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Adeline Kathaline Voracek on Jan. 31, 1948, in Tipton, Iowa. He was employed as a draftsman at FMC for a total of 43 years. He enjoyed fixing and building many things and had accomplished building two homes and boats. He enjoyed bowling and time spent with his family. He was a member of American Legion Hanford Post 5.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Ernest's honor be made to American Legion Hanford Post 5.
