Ernest J. Heller, age 92 of Ladora, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral service: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 31, 2008, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Dr. W.L. Karsten officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his brothers, Elvin Heller and wife Nancy of Solway, MN, Wes and wife Mary of Marengo, IA, George and wife Vava of Marengo, IA and Frank and wife Zelma of Lostine, OR; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alice Morton and Mary Heller and a brother, Lloyd Heller, Jr.

Ernest John Heller was born July 16, 1915 in rural Ladora, Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Emma Ducil Heller. He attended the Honey Creek School, rural Iowa County. Ernest served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in China and India.

Ernest opened the Koszta Store for many years and also farmed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,gardening and mushroom hunting. He was a fantastic cook, made wine, and enjoyed the family get-togethers.
