Ronald O. Edwards, age 76 of Conroy, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness. Memorial Service: 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2007, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Chaplain Maurie Campbell officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before service. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be contributed to Iowa City Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy.

He is survived by his wife Janice; a son, Russell O. Edwards and wife Julie of Gilbert, AZ; three daughters, Sherrie Paxman and husband Thomas of Pine Top, AZ, Rhonda Hafen of Gilbert, AZ and Kenna Espersen also of Gilbert; two stepdaughters, Patricia McClure and husband Thomas of Williamsburg and Janelle Ohmstede and husband David of Newton; several grandchildren; four step grandchildren, Sara McClure of Vail, CO, Jonathan McClure of Iowa City; Darren Ohmstede of Fort Campbell, KY and Dustin Ohmstede of Newton. He is also survived by a sister Jolaine Ferguson and husband John of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald Owen Edwards was born July 23, 1931 in Troy Township, Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Edwin Russell Edwards and Naomi Fern Wagner Russell. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1949 and received a degree in Traffic Police Administration from Northwestern University Traffic Institute, Evanston, IL on June 17, 1972. Ronald served in the U.S. Air Force. Ron was employed with the El Paso, TX Police Department, retiring as a Captain. He was a postal carrier for rural Williamsburg for 15 years, retiring in 1998. Ron married Janice Slaymaker Wiebold on October 26, 2000 in Williamsburg.

Ron collecting telephones and sewing machines, and model vintage cars. He enjoyed flying, and riding motorcycles. He loved the news and keeping up with the current stock market. Ron served on the Iowa County Historical Board.
