Interment: A private family burial will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Those left to honor Albert's memory are his wife, Helen of Newton; son, John (and Janeen) Wallace of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Jane Reilly of Severna Park, Maryland; his 4 grandchildren, Jeff (and Nicole) Wallace, Chad (and Heather) Wallace, Sami Wallace, and Jake Laaveg; 3 great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Arthur J. Wallace; and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, John Rea and Lois Mary (Howes) Wallace; 4 brothers, Ralph and twin brothers, Herbert and Robert Wallace and a brother in infancy; and 3 sisters, Caroline Ingles, Irene Sinn, and Dorothy Morris.
Albert graduated from Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, Iowa in 1936 and a graduate of St. Louis Mortuary College in 1948.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and Past Chairman of the Trustees; 50+ year member of Newton Lodge No.59 A.F. & A.M.; Newton Chapter No. 100 Order Eastern Star; Past Secretary of the Iowa Division American Cancer Society and served on the Board of Directors for 12 years; American Legion Post 111; Life member of VFW Post 1655; Life member of Newton Optimist Club; Amboy Grange; Life member of Jasper County Historical Society; Moose Lodge No 923; member of both the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Albert served his country in the U. S. Air Force during WW II., and was recalled to serve during the Korean War. Albert was instrumental in organizing the Des Moines Ostomy Association Chapter. He traveled extensively throughout Iowa and many other states helping to organize new chapters. Albert was very involved in the State and National Ostomy Organization, serving as State President and then National President in 1980 and 1981. Albert and twin brother, Arthur were members of 4H and started showing Jersey calves when they were 10 years old at the Iowa State Fair and the Dairy Cattle Congress in Waterloo. The twins were State Dairy Demonstration Champions in 1936 and came in 2nd at the National Contest in Dallas, Texas. It was during the National Contest in Dallas that the Iowa Wallace twins met the Kansas Otte twins and the long distance romance began for Albert and Helen.
