Jackie Duffy Thompson, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown following a long illness, with her family at her side. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine by the Rev. Jack Andrews. Inurnment will be in the Koszta Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Ray at the Veterans Home; daughters, Connie (Leonard) Pugh of Toledo, Nancy (Steven) Walter of Blairstown, Brenda Mertens (Jim Tjelmeland) of Vinton, Lori Duffy (Flint Owens) of Palo; sons, Gould (Sharon) Miller Jr. of Belle Plaine, Ronald (Terri) Duffy of Cedar Rapids, John (Lisa) Duffy of Van Horne, Mark (Brenda) Duffy of Belle Plaine; stepdaughter, Louann (Raye) Heinle of Laurel; stepsons, Ken (Beverly) Thompson of Laurel, Delbert (Valorie) Thompson of Dothan, Ala., Bill (Connie) Thompson of Newton; sister, Cleo Montross of Alamo, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.

Jacqueline Mae Cronbaugh was born April 15, 1933, to John Francis Cronbaugh and Lydia Fern Kollman at her home in Iowa County near Koszta. She attended Marengo schools. She married Gould K. Miller Sr. on Jan. 12, 1950. To this union Connie, Nancy and Gould Jr. were born. They divorced and she married Donald Duffy on June 21, 1955. To this union Ronald, John, Brenda, Mark and Lori were born. They later divorced and she married Ray Thompson on Oct. 13, 1990, in Grinnell.

Jackie worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids for 12 years, Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 16 years, Benco Manufacturing in Belle Plaine, Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab and Casey's in Belle Plaine before her retirement in 1995.

She made her home in Belle Plaine most of her life, living at 912 Second Ave. for 42 years before moving to an apartment, then to the Belle Plaine Nursing Home, then to the Iowa Veterans Home in March 2006.

She was a member of First Congregational UCC in Belle Plaine, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama, was a lifetime member of the Belle Plaine Legion Auxiliary, and a Red Hat Lady at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Jackie was a loving mother and friend to whoever she met. She will be missed by many.

We want to thank the staffs at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center and the Iowa Veterans Home for being like her extended family and giving her loving care for the last few years.
