Thomas B. Hester, age 60, of Iowa City and formerly of North English, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City of pneumonia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English, with the Rev. Pat Lumsden officiating. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in North English on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from 4-8 PM He is survived by his parents William and Mary Hester of North English, IA; 3 brothers: Terry (Sharon) Hester of Davenport, IA; John (Linda) Hester of Lone Tree, IA; Jim (Candy) Hester of Orlando, FL; and 2 sisters: Rosemary Adam of Iowa City, and Sandy Hester of North English, IA; and loving and dedicated friends and staff at Systems Unlimited. He was preceded in death by a brother Francis Hester. Thomas B. Hester was born on February 7, 1947, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of William Ambrose and Mary L. Barron Hester. He attended school in Iowa County, the Association of Retarded Children School in Williamsburg, Iowa. He lived in North English and at the Glenwood State School. In July 1987, he moved to Iowa City, where he was a resident of Systems Unlimited and employed by Employment Systems. Thomas enjoyed listening to country music on his headphones and coloring. A memorial fund has been established for Systems Unlimited.
