She married Jacob Roemig at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1943. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Amana Society. Emily loved to travel. She and her family took many long summer trips when her children were in school and in all covered 46 of the 50 United States, and Canada. In later years she took numerous car trips with her friends around the Midwest. She also traveled outside the U.S. Her favorite pastime was working in her yard and vegetable garden. The fall was a special time of year as it involved raking and burning of leaves. Her entire family will long stay cozy and warm using the afghans that she crocheted.
