Merle Thomas HerdliskaBorn in Holbrook, Iowa on Mar. 7, 1930.Departed on Jul. 7, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Merle T. Herdliska, 77, of 1650 Koehler Dr NW, died Saturday July 7, 2007 in St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Nils Hernandez. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today at Cedar Memorial-Westside Chapel from 4-7 p.m., where a rosary will be begin at 4pm. Survivors include a sister in law, Doreen Eisentrager of Lincoln, Nebraska, a brother in law, Louis Shimon of Kansa City, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his pool partner, Don Johnson of Cedar Rapids and his friends from the Meth-Wick Community.He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Herdliska, his parents, a sister, Eleanor, a brother, Gene and a sister, Patricia.Merle was born March 7, 1930 in Holbrook, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Stella Donohue Herdliska. He married Doris Eisentrager on August 18, 1962 in Alvord, Iowa. Doris died in 2006. Merle was a Millwright for the Local Union 2158 and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed pool in his spare time.Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Luke’s Hospice.
