Mildred K. Esser, age 92, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Colonial Manor of Amana in Amana, IA due to natural causes. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2007, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in North English Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 PM. Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A Vigil Service will be at 6 PM. Memorials may be contributed to Colonial Manor of Amana and Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two sons Bob Esser (Karen) of Marengo, IA and Steve Esser (Connie) of Walford, IA; two daughters Verna Goeldner (Gordon) of Marengo, IA and Vergie Schreifels (Jim) of Cedar Rapids, IA; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers Loren Tedrow (Evelyn) of Newton, IA and Tom Tedrow (Angie) of Littleton, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cletus in 1992, one grandson Steven, one granddaughter Diane and one great granddaughter Lindsey, four brothers Vernon, Bob, Lucian and Harvey, and two sisters Rita and Bonnie.

Mildred Katherine Tedrow was born August 28, 1914 in the Des Moines, IA area, the daughter of Jess and Grace Brunson Tedrow. She graduated from North English High School in 1932. She married Cletus Esser on February 20, 1938 in St. Augusta Church in Des Moines. She was a homemaker and also employed at the University of Iowa and later retired from there.

Mildred enjoyed baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She served on the Altar and Rosary and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo.
