Williamsburg-Blanche Elizabeth Hudepohl was born February 10, 1924 near Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bessie (Kahler) Bahr. She was baptized on November 9, 1930 at the Methodist Church in Ladora and later confirmed in the Methodist Church in Marengo. She attended school in Marengo and worked for the Marengo Bakery. Blanche was united in marriage to Harold F. Hudepohl on August 19, 1945 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. The couple farmed north of Williamsburg all their life until Harold’s death in 1987, then Blanche moved to town. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Blanche died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo after an extended illness at the age of 83 years. She is survived by three sons: Gerald (Lori J.) Hudepohl of Marengo, Donald (Sharon) Hudepohl and Gary Hudepohl (special friend Carolyn Crew) all of Williamsburg; a daughter: Barbara (Tom) Pope of Ladora; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a brother: Marvin Bahr of Marengo. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Lester, Dale and Kenneth and two sisters: Anna Furler and Thelma Sanders. Celebration on Life Service will be10:30 am Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Lutheran Interparish School or Alzheimer’s Association.
