Services:Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday May 17, 2007 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation:Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave with a prayer service starting at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Leonard J. Fuhrmeister, 79, formerly of Iowa City, died Sunday May 13, 2007 at Colonial Manor Care Center, Amana. Leonard was born on October 16, 1927 in Iowa City, IA to Leonard F. and Mabel (Wickham) Fuhrmeister. He married Rita A. Cole on June 15, 1953 in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City Eagles Lodge, Iowa City Moose Lodge #1096 and Korean War Veterans Association Tall Corn Chapter. Leonard was awarded the Purple Heart. Leonard is survived by his children; Dale (Mary Beth) of Colorado Springs, CO, Diane Schultz (John) of North English, Teresa Schmidt (John) of Marion, Mary Davis (Brian) of Williamsburg, eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter and a brother Paul Fuhrmeister (Alice) of Iowa City.Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, a brother Raymond and two sisters Catherine and Mary
