Darwin Loren Huedepohl, age 72 of Victor, formerly of Marengo, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 4, 2007 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. David MacKain and Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Marengo American Legion Post #76. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Victor; his daughter, Colleen Conrad and husband Michael of Marengo and a sister, Jasiel Timm of Victor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Phyllis in 1999, a brother Clark and a sister, Phyllis Fiebelkorn.

Darwin Loren Huedepohl was born July 9, 1934 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Fremont and Irene Zimmerman Huedepohl. He attended the St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Hilton Consolidated High School, Conroy in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. Darwin married Phyllis Gerner on April 15, 1961 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. She died in 1999. He married Sharon Schmidt on January 5, 2001 at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. He farmed in Iowa County for many years. Besides farming, in earlier years, Darwin had also worked as a meat cutter for Roehrkasse Meats and the Marengo Locker.

Darwin served on the board of the Iowa County Cattlemen Association, the ASCS Board, the REIC Board and the Iowa County Fair Board. Most recently he had been employed part-time with Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Darwin enjoyed his family and friends and his farming career.
