Lillian Ann Ahrens, age 74 died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elders Harold Pitz and Jon Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Main Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Middle Amana Church. Memorials may be contributed to Iowa County Hospice of Compassion, The Amana Church Society, or the American Cancer Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.She is survived by her two sons, Elliott R. Ahrens (Karen) of Coralville, and Kevin L. Ahrens (Lori) of Middle Amana; five grandchildren, Andrea Ripley (Dustin) of North Liberty, Adam and Melissa Ahrens of Middle Amana, Sean and Zachary Ahrens of Coralville; and a great-grandson Elias Ripley. She is also survived by a sister Helen Moser ( Roy) of Amana. She was preceded in death by her parents.Lillian Ann Sontag was born September 27, 1931 in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of William and Frieda (Rohrbacher) Sontag. She received her education in the Amana Community Schools graduating from Amana High School in 1949. She attended and graduated from the Business College in Cedar Rapids. Lillian was employed for many years at Amana Refrigeration. Following retirement she worked for Wendler Engineering, South Amana. She was a member of the Amana Church Society, The Amana Heritage Museum, and the Humane Society. She enjoyed spending time with her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and her beloved dog, Schatzi.
