BROOKLYN- Betty L. Zigler, age 79, of Brooklyn, formerly of Tama died Saturday morning, August 26, 2006 following a short illness.Private family graveside services will be held at Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama is handling the arrangements.Betty was born on April 18, 1927 in Redding, Iowa the daughter of Grant and Alma (Michael) Brott. On August 24, 1946 she married Leonard Zigler in Troy Kansas. Betty and Leonard owned and operated Zigler’s Nursing Home and later Betty was one of the founders of Grandview Acres in Toledo. After her children were born, Betty put herself through nursing school and was certified as a LPN. She deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed all the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed reading and attending her card club. She was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charlie and Lowell, grandson Shawn Zigler, and a son-in-law LaVerne Arp Survivors include her husband Leonard of Brooklyn; children Coleen (Ron) Nekola of Jesup, Iowa Vernon (Diane) Zigler of Marshalltown, David (Gail) Zigler of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Gary (Patricia) Zigler of Tama; grandchildren Kim (Todd) Banes, Kris (James) Mayfield, Kendall (Sheryl) Arp, Andrea (Jeff) Coen, Angel Blackburn. Kelli (Jay) Swick, Levi (Laura) Zigler, Kami Zigler, Shannon (James) Dobbs, Shain Zigler, Sharissa Zigler, and Shace Zigler; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.A memorial fund has been established.
