Betty D. Hedge, age 79, died Sunday morning, August 27, 2006 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, from complications of cancer. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. James Parks officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo and on Wednesday from 1-2 PM at Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont, IA. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery, Fremont, IA with Pastor Bob Morris officiating. Memorials may be contributed to the Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband O. Paul Hedge of Williamsburg and two sons, Robert and Steve also of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Betty Darlene Rutherford was born February 17, 1927 in Audubon, IA, the daughter of Clarke and Mable Anderson Rutherford. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1945 and attended Knox College in Illinois for a year. Betty married Oliver Paul Hedge on July 20, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Ottumwa. The couple moved to Williamsburg in 1965 where they operated the Gambles Hardware Store for many years.In earlier years Betty was a note teller for Farmers Trust and Savings Bank. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Williamsburg and the Delta Zeta Sorority.
