Edith A. Iberg, age 98, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo with Rev. Jerry Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald and wife Charlotte of Austin,Texas and John of Williamsburg; a daughter Kathy Nopoulos and husband Pete of Marion; five grandchildren, Kim Iberg, Doug Iberg, Sheila Long, Bryan Iberg and Jesse Disterhoft; and seven great-grandchildren, Heath Long, Cory Long and wife Amanda, Zachary Long, Aidan Iberg, Avery Iberg, Amara Althaus, and Brett Macken.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adolph, a daughter Elnora in infancy, three grandchildren, Amy and Megan Nopoulos, and Tonya Iberg; two brothers, John and Albert DeGood, and two sisters, Mary Schropp and Lois Kargas.

Edith Alberta DeGood was born December 13, 1907 in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Nora Gould DeGood. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1926. She married Adolph G. Iberg on October 8, 1927 in Marengo. The couple owned and operated the Iberg Grocery and Oil Station in Marengo for over 35 years. Adolph died November 1, 1979. Following her retirement from the grocery store, Edith worked at Rosa’s Flowers for several years.

Edith was a member of the Marengo American Legion Auxiliary, Iowa County Historical Society, the Marengo Golf Club, bridge clubs, and the Garden Club, She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo, the Presbyterian Women, and the church quilting group.
