Marilyn was born on September 2, 1928, the daughter of Wright and Carrie "Pearl" Henry Chittenden in Victor, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Victor High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Fontinel Produce. Eventually, she took a position at the Texas Technical Institute as an assistant librarian. Marilyn was a member of the New Covenant United Methodist Church in Victor, the United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle and Women's Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Kris (Doug) Blesie, Joy (Dean) Dolmage, Laurie Chapman, Tom Fontinel and Tim (Lisa) Fontinel; two sisters, Elsie Burgy and Joni Showalter; grandchildren, Tony, Todd and Tracy Gryp, Terri Wille, Nick and Brad Dolmage, Jessie Weston, Sion Fontinel, Dustin Bramstedt, Tabby and Tisha Fontinel; eight great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Murphy, sister Joyce DeDecker and brother Harold "Bud" Chittenden.
