Helen E. Misel, 90, of Iowa City, formerly of Marengo, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Kloster Funeral Home, by the Rev. Morris Hurd. Burial: Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Survivors include numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Helen Ethel Misel was born Oct. 18, 1915, near Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur A. and Phoebe Dye Misel. She graduated from Marengo High School. She was a teacher for several years in the rural schools near Marengo. In 1941, Helen moved to Iowa City. She was employed as a secretary in Iowa City and later in Phoenix, Ariz. Over the years, Helen was a member of many organizations, among them, Tau Gamma sorority, Rebekahs and Pythian Sisters.
