Arleen M. Danskin, 84, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in Rose Haven Nursing Home from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Morris Hurd. Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are with Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene; two sons, David Danskin of Coralville and John Danskin and wife Julie of Woodbury, Minn.; two grandchildren, Erik and Emma Danskin; a brother, Fred Madison and wife Regina of Eagle Grove; and five sisters, Margaret Risdon of Victor, Berniece Mohr and husband Ronald of Marengo, Marian Freeman of Plattsburg, Mo., Joann Gillespie of Chatfield, Minn., and Donnarae Cranston of Grundy Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Madison.

Arleen Marie Madison was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Wright County, near Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Lucy Farmer Madison. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1939 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Arleen taught school prior to her marriage to Eugene Danskin on Dec. 26, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. The couple farmed for many years. In 1999, they moved to Marengo. Arleen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marengo, United Methodist Women, Farm Bureau and bridge club. She also was a cancer survivor.
