Virginia D. Husted, 72, of Vinton, died Monday, April 3, 2006, in the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Per Virginia's request there will be no service or visitation. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Eastern, Central, and Western Iowa.
Survivors include daughter, Robin (Everett) Leonard of Vinton; son, Richard Husted Sr. of Vinton; daughter, Debra S. Husted of Oelwein; sister, Beverly Lenter of Garrison; brother, Joseph

Slaymaker Jr. of Springville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Husted Sr.; and mother- and father-in-law, Melvin and Stella Husted.

Virginia D. Husted was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Homestead, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Clara (Stone) Slaymaker Sr. She married Richard Husted Sr. on Aug. 29, 1953, at Sunshine Mission Church in Cedar Rapids. She was employed for many years as a waitress at The Lazy H Bar and Grill. She was a member of the Eagles Women's Auxiliary as well as Young Parents Network.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
