Clifford L. Stoddard, 88, of 305 Linn St., Walker, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in his home after a long illness of COPD. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty; three daughters, Elaine (Lonnie) Pruitt of Florida, Joan (Rod) Wright of Missouri and Lois (Ron) Bressler of Marengo; one son, Phillip (Sharon) of Rowley; and two sisters and two brothers. He is also survived by four grandsons, Terry (Ondrea) Hummel, Tim Hogan, Todd (Jill) Hogan and Chad (Lacey) Von Lienen; four granddaughters, Tammi Hogan, Sandra (Colin) Christenson, Tracie Glandorf and Kimberly (David) Crithchley; 18 great-grandchildren, Britney, Blake and Ben Christiansen, Chelsea and Trevor Thulin, L.C., Alex and Alyssa Conn, Evan Hummel, Ethan, Christian and Tyler Glandorf, Colton Stoddard, Jack, Ben and Kate Hogan, Cooper and Carson Von Lienen.

He was preceded in death by a very dear grandson, Corey Stoddard; a special granddaughter, Cynthia Von Lienen; two sisters and four brothers.

Clifford was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Brookfield, Mo., the son of Edward and Stella Sheppard Stoddard. He married Betty A. Wilcox on Jan. 29, 1941, in Linneus, Mo. In the early years Clifford farmed and in the '60s he was the owner and operator of a gas station in Marengo. In later years he returned to farming in the Troy Mills area until his retirement in 1988.

Clifford enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially time spent with his friends and beloved family.
