Gladys Wilson Roths, 86, formerly of Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Transylvania Community Hospital, Brevard, N.C., following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, where friends may call after 10 a.m. The Rev. Will Jackson will officiate. Burial: Marengo Cemetery, Marengo. Turner West Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Franzen and husband Ken of Brevard, N.C.; a brother, Dewain Sparrowgrove of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Lorene Stratton of Belleview, Fla.; three grandchildren, Drew Franzen of Gurnee, Ill., Gretchen Briggs of West Lafayette, Ind., and Ingrid Scales of Gainesville, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren, Amanda and Rachel Briggs, Zachary and Ava Franzen and Key Scales; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a son, Byron Wilson.

Gladys was born April 21, 1919, in Marengo, the daughter of William and Cinderella Hawkins Sparrowgrove. She married Keith Roths on Feb. 4, 1967, in Rock Island, Ill.

Gladys was County Recorder in Iowa County from 1953 until 1974. She was a member of Hus Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening and reading in her spare time. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to Hus Presbyterian Church.
