Joseph James Lee Voigtmann, 15, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Iowa City, died Friday, March 24, 2006. Services: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield, by the Rev. Dr. Michael Strong and the Rev. Thomas Radke. Graveside services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Marengo Memorial Cemetery, Marengo, by the Rev. Douglas Morton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bisch Funeral Home, Springfield.

He was born, the son of the Rev. James and Brenda (Nielsen) Voigtmann, on July 22, 1990, in Iowa City. He was a sophomore student at Lutheran High School in Springfield. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an honor student at Lutheran High School, where he was also a member of the school's band, soccer, basketball and baseball teams.

He is survived by his parents, the Rev. James and Brenda; a sister, Leighanne (William) Bonnett of Springfield; a brother, Jacob of Springfield; three younger sisters, Jenna, Marleigh and Jamie, all of Springfield; his maternal grandmother, Jennie Nielsen of Tucson, Ariz.; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; a sister, Esther; his paternal grandparents; and his maternal grandfather.

A memorial contribution fund has been established to the Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran School
