Helene M. Leichsenring, 92, of Amana, died Sunday morning, March 19, 2006, at Colonial Manor of Amana, following a lengthy illness. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, by Elder Kristie Cutler. Burial: Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Middle Amana Community Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Rotter and husband Rus, and Ramona Gerard and husband Ric, all of Amana; three grandchildren, Shane Unkel, Rob Rotter and Ryan Rotter; and eight great-grandchildren, Kyle, Rebecca, Brett, Christopher, Parker, Nicholas and Katy Rotter and Aric Unkel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph on Aug. 17, 1983; a sister, Frieda Sontag; and a grandson, Shannon Unkel.

Helene Margarepha Rohrbacher was born June 6, 1913, in Amana, the daughter of Fritz and Anna Albert Rohrbacher. She attended the Amana schools and then worked in the communal kitchens. She married Rudolph Leichsenring on July 15, 1939, in her parents' home in Amana. Helene was employed by the Amana Woolen Mills for 67 years, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and also sewing and handicrafts. Helene was a member of the Amana Church.
