Marjorie Rhinehart, age 85, of Victor and formerly of Hartwick, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at her home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor with Rev. Stephen J. Bibb officiating. Interment will be at Brooklyn Cemetery in Brooklyn. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home at 12 noon on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be directed to HLV Dollars for Scholars or the Victor Public Library. Marjorie was born the daughter of Walter and Alta Slosser Gant on March 10, 1920, south of Ladora, Iowa. She was raised in the Brooklyn and Victor area and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Rhinehart on April 2, 1939, at the Church of the Brethren in Brooklyn. To this union was born their two sons Ron and Tom. The couple farmed in the Brooklyn and Hartwick area until 1956, when they moved to Hartwick. Following the death of her husband on March 18, 1988, Marjorie moved to Victor to be closer to her family. Marjorie was employed at the Hartwick Post Office for seventeen years and was the Post Master there for thirteen years. She was a member of the Hartwick Firewomen’s group. Her family described her as a simple person who enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Ron (Barb) Rhinehart of Victor and Tom (Pat) Rhinehart of Victor; her grandchildren, Wendy (Greg) Schafbuch of Victor, Jeffrey (Lisa) Rhinehart of Victor, Jennifer (John) Vogelaar of Windsor Heights, Iowa, and Chad Rhinehart of Brooklyn and his fiancé Amber; three great grandchildren, Shelby Rhinehart, Morgan Rhinehart and Kendra Schafbuch; and her sister Ila Shultz of Williamsburg, Iowa. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sisters, Wilma See and Verla LaKose.
