Loretta Waskow, 85, of Windmill Manor in Coraville died Monday, February 27, 2006 at Windmill Manor following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5PM to 8PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate.Survivors include two daughters, Donetta (Robert) Greenwald and Phyllis (Gene) Vineyard; four grandchildren, Scott (Linda) Winkle, Gene Donald (Lynn) Vineyard, Terri (Lance) Pell, and Tracy (Ryan) Clarke; nine great grandchildren, Arianna, Sara, Matthew, Chloe, Jami, Aaron, Joshua, Chase, and Jena. Also surviving are three sisters, Luella Fruendt, Eileen Schlesselman and Mildred Allee.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald; a daughter Karen; a brother Walter; and two sisters Evelyn and Dolores; one grandchild Bradley Winkle; and her beloved dog, Peaches.Loretta was born May 5, 1920 in Victor the daughter of Henry and Stella (Roshek) Meyer. She graduated from Guernsey High School and moved to Cedar Rapids to work. She married Donald W. Waskow on October 31, 1941 in Memphis, Missouri. Donald died on July 9, 1989. She continued to live in Cedar Rapids until 2003 when she moved to Emerson Point Assisted Living and then to Windmill Manor Nursing Home. Loretta was a volunteer for St. Luke’s Hospital for 30 years, and belonged to the St. Luke’s Auxiliary. She was a life-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice.
