Dennis G. Bresnahan, age 62, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his residence of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate; with Committal Services following in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. A rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m. The Christensen -Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Dennis George Bresnahan, the son of Robert and Priscilla (Francis) Bresnahan, was born on December 8, 1955, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He grew up in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1974. After high school, Dennis worked for at Gomaco for a number of years, then Midwest, and Lunzman’s Trenching before eventually farming with his dad on the family farm. On November 4, 1983, Dennis was united into marriage to Cheryl Cougill. The couple were blessed with two children: a daughter Sara and a son Justin. The couple later parted ways. Dennis was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and gardening. Left to cherish his memory are his children Sara (Justin) Oehm of Salix, Iowa and Justin (Lacy) Bresnahan of Smithland, Iowa; grandchildren Treven and Lylee Oehm, Kinley and Lakyn Bresnahan; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
