Mrs. Johnson’s Death
Died – On Saturday, January 11, 1908, at her home in Ida Grove, Mrs. Emma Christopher Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was born in 1846 and came to America in August of 1864 with her parents. In 1867 she was married to Peter Johnson at Milan, Ill., and went to Geneseo, where they lived for some years. In 1890 Mr. and Mrs. Johnson came to Ida Grove and this has been their home. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church for years. She was brave and determined during all the years of her suffering, patient and courageous, resigned and ready to go to her Maker. Mrs. Johnson leaves four daughters and her husband to mourn the loss of as good a woman as ever lived. One of her daughters and a son preceded her to the unknown beyond. Two of her brothers, a sister and mother are living to ever cherish her memory as sacred. The funeral was held from the home Tuesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. Memott conducting the service. Peter Johnson and children wish The Pioneer to extend their thanks to the friends and neighbors who were so kind and helpful during the sickness and death of the wife and mother. In their grief the family have the sympathy of all Ida County.
