(1869 –January 14, 1908)Ida County Pioneer, Ida Grove, Iowa, Thurs., Jan 16, 1908, p.1
Died – At his home in Ida Grove on Tuesday, January 14, 1908, after a brief illness of a little over one week. Charles Burger was born in Minersville, Penn., in 1869, and from there went to Rhodes, Iowa, with his parents. Eighteen years ago Charles and his brothers came to Ida Grove and this has ever since been his home, where has had the acquaintance, the respect and esteem of everybody. A year after coming to Ida Grove Mr. Burger was married to Fannie Hagler of Ida Grove, and to them four sons were born. The wife, the four sons, two brothers, two sisters and his father survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband, father, brother and son. Stricken a week ago Monday with an ailment of the kidneys, Mr. Burger was sick only a little over a week when the end came Tuesday afternoon. Just at the prime of his life his taking off is especially sad and in their grief the sorrowing family have the sympathy of The Pioneer and all Ida County. The funeral will be at the home this afternoon, Thursday at 2 o’clock, the sermon being by Rev. Gilbert, assisted by Rev. Yates and Rev. Memmott, his neighbors.
