Obituary – Martha Wilhelmina Oberlander
Martha Wilhelmina Oberlander, born February 23, 1866 at Fondulac, Wisconsin, died June 22, 1957, at Durango, Colorado. Her mother passed away in 1868, two years after Martha was born, and the family moved to Danbury, Iowa and were cared for by the grandmother, Mrs. Wilhelmina Oberlander. Martha and Cornelius Venard were married May 15, 1883 at Blue Grass, Iowa. They moved to Greenfield and lived there until 1890 when they moved to a farm near Ida Grove. Cornelius Venard was killed in an accident on December 28, 1913. They were survived by three children, Sadie, Mrs. F. W. Kroeger, Durango, Colorado, Charles T., and Chester A. Venard of Chicago, a sister, Mrs. Laura Frahm of Star, Idaho, a brother, John Oberlander of Scotland. There are eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Burial was in the family plot at Ida Grove, Iowa, June 26, 1957.
