(August 9, 1954 – July 17, 2020)

IDA GROVE – Because of current health conditions, a private service for Patricia Ann Fostvedt-Oxendale, 65, of Ida Grove was held. All were welcome at 11 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at Bluffview Cemetery in Vermillion, S.D., for prayers and burial. Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, S.D., was in charge of arrangements.
She died July 17, 2020, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Pat Fostvedt was born Aug. 9, 1954, in Canton, S.D., moving with her family to Vermillion in 1965, where she attended Vermillion public schools. She graduated in 1972. After high school, Pat entered the workforce through the DECA program, where she learned to become a dental assistant. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota to become a speech-language pathologist. Work in the public schools of South Dakota continued until she went on to become a Reading Recovery teacher Leader. She completed training at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. As a teacher leader, she worked tirelessly with struggling beginning readers, training teachers and providing ongoing professional development for Northwest Area Education Agency. Pat married Jim Oxendale in Vermillion, S.D., Sept. 21, 1996. They resided in Ida Grove and worked in the Iowa education system. She died July 17, 2020, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Preceding her in death was her sister, Kris. Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Ida Grove; her parents, Louie and Nila Fostvedt of Vermillion, S.D.; two sisters: Juli (Chris) Frey and Diane (Dale) Rudy of Denver; two brothers: Kim (Heidi) Fostvedt of Omaha, Neb., and Kolly (Michelle) Fostvedt of Vermillion, S.D., and many nieces and nephews.
