DeLoris Ann Stewart
(November 19, 1928 – October 24, 2020)IDA GROVE – Services for DeLoris Ann Stewart, 91, of Ida Grove were held Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove with Rev. Richard A. Salcido officiating. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery at Ida Grove with Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ida Grove in charge of arrangements.
DeLoris Ann Stewart, oldest of five children born to Evelyn (Kiertzner) Rehse and Walter Rehse Sr., was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Ida Grove. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove in 1928 and confirmed in 1942. DeLoris grew up on the family farm northwest of Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1947. She then started teaching country school in Corwin Township. On June 6, 1948, she married Frank Stewart at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. They settled down on the Stewart family farm south of Ida Grove and were blessed with three children: Frank Jr., Diane and Susan. DeLoris enjoyed attending church circle, reading, gardening, canning, baking and cooking, college basketball and helping at the local fourth grade country school days. DeLoris treasured time spent with family and took pride in entertaining and preparing a meal. She died Oct. 24, 2020, at Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Walter Rehse Sr.; her husband, Frank Stewart Sr.; a son, Frank Stewart Jr.; a granddaughter, Alicia Stewart; and her siblings: Walter Rehse Jr. and Elaine Ehlen. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Diane (friend Harry Sigg) Stewart of Cedar Rapids and Susan (Brian) Boland of Schleswig; and a daughter-in-law, Kristine Stewart of Bloomington, Ind. Also surviving are her sisters: Mary Corbin of Ida Grove and Rheta Negless of Anoka, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Janet Rehse of Ida Grove; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends.
