Eugene Edward Triplett
(February 17, 1944 – October 25, 2020)BATTLE CREEK – Services for Eugene “Gene” Edward Triplett, Grandpa Spike, 76, of Battle Creek were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek with Eugene Tolstedt officiating. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Homes in Battle Creek was in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek.
He was born Feb. 17, 1944, to John and VaVa (Clark) Triplett. Gene spent his early years in Rockwell City, with his brother and six sisters. He graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1962. Gene married Earla Brumbaugh in Rockwell City in September 1963. In 1972, the family made Battle Creek their forever home. He worked at MidAmerican Energy for 36 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for Battle Creek Fire Department and ambulance driver for Hartley hospital. He was a member of the local Lions Club, Ida County Fair Board, Hartley hospital board and ISI board. It’s no secret that his family meant the world to him. He and Earla never missed a ball game, birthday or Sunday phone call. He would be so proud to tell you that he spent his last hours surrounded by his family. Gene died Oct. 25, 2020, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa. He is survived by his wife, Earla Triplett of Battle Creek; and his children: Todd (Sherry) Triplett of Ankeny and Tonya (Keith) Huss of Orange City. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Drew Triplett, Kolby (Brooke) Moore, Seth (Annie) Triplett, Kenadi Moore, Kooper Huss, Kipp Huss and Kasee Huss; and his great-grandchildren: Jaeden Triplett, Jace Triplett, Rheya Moore, Emerson Triplett and Roman Moore.
