IDA GROVE – Private family services for Helen L. Piper, 88, of Ida Grove were held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove with Rev. Neil Wehmas will officiating. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery at Ida Grove. Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ida Grove was in charge of arrangements.
Helen Lavonne Piper, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Petersen) Bubke, was born January 26, 1932, in Grant Township of Ida County, Iowa. She raised four daughters: Rhonda, Sheryl, Nancy and Jeri and was blessed with numerous grandchildren. Helen volunteered at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, enjoyed farming, gardening, golfing, quilting and spending time with her family. Helen died Sept. 14, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society-Holstein.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Anna Bubke; her daughter, Rhonda Rohlf; her brothers and sisters, Ella, Irvin, Glen, Elmer, Marvin, Irene, Dwaine “Pete” and Raymond.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughters Sheryl (Mike) Orr of Centennial, CO, Nancy (Doug) Putensen of Holstein, IA and Jeri (Don) Boatrite of Gilbert, AZ; son-in-law Charlie Rohlf of Papillion, NE; 10 grandchildren: Jeremy Rohlf, Zachary Rohlf, Eli Rohlf, Sarah Halloran, Andrew Orr, Jay Putensen, Elly Hein, Lacey Wendel, Wade Putensen and Anna Moon; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Elaine Bubke of Ida Grove, IA and Bonnie Bubke of Cedar Rapids, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
