Vance E. Schubert
(January 13, 1933 – November 13, 2020)

IDA GROVE – Private family graveside services for Vance E. Schubert, 87, of Ida Grove were held at Galva Township East Cemetery at Galva with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating. Burial was in Galva Township East Cemetery in Galva. There was no visitation. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein was in charge of arrangements.
Vance Eugene Schubert was born Jan. 13, 1933, on a farm outside of Ida Grove, son of Reuben and Dellav (Morrice) Schubert. He graduated from Galva High School in 1950. Vance married Betty Rusch April 6, 1951, in Galva. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring after harvesting his 50th crop in 2014. They moved to Ida Grove in 1997, after farming in Galva all his life. Vance was a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva, where he attended weekly Bible study. He loved the earth, soil and growing things. He died Nov. 13, 2020, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Vance was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 2004; his parents, Reuben and Dellav Schubert; a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Vernie; and a brother, Beryl Schubert. Vance is survived by his children: Steve Schubert of Pensacola, Fla.; Vicky (Rusty) Olson of Columbia, Mo.; and Larry and his wife of Russellville, Mo. Also surviving are two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Ramona (Beryl) Schubert of Ida Grove; and his favorite niece, Bonnie (Dan) Ellis of Correctionville.
