GALVA – Private family services for Paul E. Kistenmacher, 83, of Galva was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Galva. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein is in charge of arrangements.
Paul Edgar Kistenmacher was born May 17, 1937, to Harry and Blondina (Schmidt) Kistenmacher on a farm west of Holstein. When he was five, they moved to Galva, where he resided until his death. Paul attended Galva Community School, graduating in 1954. His passions were faith, family and farming. Paul was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein. He later joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galva. Paul married Lois Shever Aug. 14, 1960. The couple was blessed with four children, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was engaged in farming and feeding cattle for 60 years. He especially loved spring planting and fall harvest and was so proud to have finished fall harvest in 2020. He served on the Galva Union Elevator Board as well as Galva and Galva-Holstein School Boards. He died Dec. 9, 2020, at his Galva home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Blondina Kistenmacher; two grandchildren, Hope Teter and Peter Kistenmacher; a great-granddaughter, Grace Foresman; a brother, Donald Kistenmacher; his parents-in-law, Albert and Mabel Shever; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Underwood and Richard Messner. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; and four children: Jacqueline (Steve) Meyer of Holstein, David (Elizabeth) Kistenmacher of Holstein, Drew Kistenmacher of Galva and Lisa (Mike) Teter of Claremore, Okla.
