Battle Creek – Funeral of Mrs. Ericksen
Funeral services for Mrs. Harry Ericksen were held Thursday, March 20 at the home at one p.m. and at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2:00 o’clock with the family pastor, Rev. Hoemann in charge. Mrs. Ericksen had been seriously ill for two weeks following the birth of a baby daughter, March 3. Four days later an embolism formed, being followed by two more, thus creating a condition which the best medical care and assistance could be of no avail. Matilda Dorothea Greenwaldt was born October 9, 1902 and died March 16, 1930 at the age of 27 years, 5 months and 14 days. She attended rural schools and later was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 1, 1917 by Rev. Aug. Reuber of Midway. After moving to Battle Creek with her parents she was employed as cook at the Battle Creek hospital for a period of two years. On Feb. 9, 1927 she was united in marriage to Harry A. Ericksen. To this union two daughters were born, Flora and an infant sister. She leaves to mourn her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Greenwaldt, two brothers, Hans Jr. and David Greenwaldt and her parent-in-law and many other relatives. Burial was made at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
