Blaine Farmer Is Taken By Death; John Lansink Jr., Is Victim of Pneumonia; Services Today
John Lansink Jr., well known young farmer of Blaine Township, passed away at the Ida Grove hospital at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, following a short illness with pneumonia. John Lansing Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lansink Sr., was born on the home farm in Hayes Township, August 7, 1888 and living all his life in that community. He was 51 years, 7 months and 11 days of age at the time of his death. Mr. Lansink spent his entire life at farming. He was in the service of the World war one day, having been a member of the small percentage above 90% Ida Grove on the day the Armistice was signed. He has been in failing health the past year and was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia a few days ago. In the winter of 1911-1912 he accompanied his father on a trip to Holland, where several months were spent among relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward, in 1917, a sister, Mary, and his mother in 1933. Surviving are his father, four brothers, Harry, Ben, Frank and William Lansink, all of this community, and a sister, Mrs. Bernard Arnts of Alta. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 this (Thursday) morning at Sacred Heart Church by Rev. Father Savage. The Rosary was recited at Moore Bros. Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. Burial will be made in the Catholic Cemetery, just west of town.
