Mrs. C. Keiffer, 80, Dies on Thursday
Mrs. Catherine Keiffer passed away at the home of Mrs. Ferd Johannsen Thursday, February 22 in her 80th year. She had been in poor health for several years. For many years she was employed as cook in the Condon Café.
Surviving are the one daughter (Rose) Mrs. G. B. Scott of San Antonio, Texas, a granddaughter, Lorraine Scott, and three nephews, Cecil Harrigan, Fonda; Roy and Clarence Harrigan of Danbury. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in Danbury Saturday morning and burial was made in the cemetery there.Ida County Pioneer Record, Ida Grove, Iowa, Thurs., Mar 7, 1940, p.1, col.3
Mrs. C. Keiffer Passes Away; Funeral Services Held Saturday, Feb 25, at Danbury
The funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Keiffer were held in Danbury Saturday morning, February 25 with Rev. F. M. McNeill in charge of the funeral mass. Burial was made in St. Patrick’s cemetery at that place. Pall bearers were R. J. Collins, Mike Barry, Roy Barry, John Bauer, Charles McGuire, Joe Collins. Mrs. Keiffer was born at Holy Cross, Iowa, July 17, 1854. She lived in the Danbury community for several years and later resided in Ida Grove where she was engaged as cook in the Condon Café and other employment in this city.

She passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johannsen Thursday, February 22. She had been in poor health for the past three years and was bedfast the past 9 months of her illness. All during her last years she was cared for by Mrs. Johannsen. Surviving are the husband, Peter Keiffer, who is residing at St. Mary’s Home for the aged at Galveston, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. G. B. Scott, Randolph Field, Texas and a granddaughter, Lorraine Scott. Those from Ida Grove attending the funeral were Mrs. Ferd Johannsen, Mrs. R. C. Murphy, Mrs. Wm. Schroeder, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Briese and daughter.
